Considered a traumatic foot injury, a crush injury occurs when the foot is compressed between another object, such as a large object falling on top of the foot, or the foot being run over by a tire. A crush injury usually involves multiple fractures and soft tissue damage. In serious cases ongoing numbness and pain can take months to heal due to nerve damage.
